Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Petter Granberg suffered a torn Achilles while practicing in Sweden and will need at least four months to recover after undergoing surgery.

He suffered the injury while training in Sweden.

Granberg appeared in seven games with the Maple Leafs last season, posting no points and a plus-1 rating.

In 53 games with the Toronto Marlies in 2014-15, Granberg scored one goal and added 14 assists.

The 22-year-old was selected by the Leafs in the fourth round (116th overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft.
