CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mason Marchment scored at 3:01 of overtime and Michael Hutchinson stopped 31 shots as the Toronto Marlies edged the Charlotte Checkers 4-3 on Saturday in American Hockey League play.

Pierre Engvall, Jeremy Bracco and Calle Rosen scored in regulation for the Marlies (20-15-5), who held a 3-1 lead heading into the final frame. The Marlies are the AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Nick Schilkey, Jake Bean and Patrick Brown answered for the Checkers (30-9-4).

Callum Booth denied 21 shots in a losing effort for Charlotte.

The Marlies went 1 for 3 on the power play. The Checkers were 1 for 7 with the man advantage.
