(SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Cumpton tries to win his fourth consecutive decision when the Pittsburgh Pirates continue a four-game set against the New York Mets at PNC Park.

The 25-year-old right-hander allowed two hits over seven shutout innings of a 2-1 win at Wrigley Field Sunday. Cumpton has come on strong after yielding a career-high 11 runs -- 10 earned -- in a 12-2 loss on May 30 at Dodger Stadium.

The only previous start for Cumpton against the Mets came May 26 at Citi Field. He was in line for the loss after giving up one two runs -- one earned -- over six innings, but didn't get a decision after the Pirates rallied for a 5-3 victory.

Jacob deGrom toes the rubber for the Mets. The first Mets pitcher to go winless in his first seven starts, the 26-year-old righty picked up his initial major league win in his last start. He worked seven innings last Saturday in Miami and gave up five hits and three walks while striking out seven in a 4-0 final.

DeGrom didn't get a decision against the Pirates on May 26 at Citi Field in his third major league start. He tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings allowing five hits in a 5-3 New York defeat.

Gregory Polanco drove in a career-high four runs and Vance Worley tossed seven effective innings in Pittsburgh's 5-2 victory on Thursday. Polanco belted his second major league homer as part of a 2-for-3 night to lead Pittsburgh offensively, while Worley (2-0) scattered seven hits and a pair of walks to hold the Mets to one run and help the surging Pirates to their fifth win in six games.

"For me it was just keeping the ball down in the zone and out of the middle," Worley said. "I was going back with off-speed and fastballs an keeping them guessing."

Daisuke Matsuzaka (3-2) served up Polanco's three-run blast and was tagged for five runs overall while issuing four walks over six innings of work.

"He kept us in the game," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "You look up late in the game and it seems he always give you a chance to win."

Lucas Duda had a solo homer for New York and David Wright added an RBI double to extend his hitting streak to 10 games.

The Bucs have homered in a season-high seven straight games.

The Mets took two of three from the Pirates at Citi Field May 26-28.
