Michael Raffl is returning to Europe.

The 33-year-old forward has signed a two-year deal with Lausanne of the Swiss National League.

A native of Villach, Austria, Raffl appeared in 76 games for the Dallas Stars last season, scoring seven goals and adding nine assists. He had a pair of goals in the team's first-round playoff series with the Calgary Flames.

"Michael has proven his worth as a leader in the NHL and on the Austrian national team," Lausanne head coach John Fust said in a statement. "He has a versatile profile, since he can play at centre or on the wing. We look forward to having him in our organization for the next two seasons."

Originally signing as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2013, Raffl went on to play seven-plus seasons for the team before a deadline trade to the Washington Capitals in 2021.

For his career, Raffl had 89 goals and 90 assists in 590 games over nine seasons with the Flyers, Capitals and Stars.

Internationally, Raffl represented Austria on a number of occasions, including at six IIHF World Hockey Championships.
