TORONTO - Outfielder Dalton Pompey won the Canadian Baseball Network's Randall Echlin Memorial Award on Friday as the top offensive Canadian player in the minor leagues.

Pompey, from Mississauga, Ont., began his season at Class-A Dunedin and was a late-season call-up for the Toronto Blue Jays. In 113 minor-league games, he led all Canadian minor-leaguers with 140 hits.

Pompey batted .317 at the minor-league level with 22 doubles, nine triples, nine homers, 51 homers and 43 stolen bases.

In 17 games with the Blue Jays, he had a .231 average with one homer and four RBIs.
