Keep up to date with all the latest rumours and rumblings from around Major League Baseball ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline.

Trio of teams in the mix for Archer

Chris Archer might be on the move before Tuesday's deadline.

According to Ken Rosenthal at The Athletic, the New York Yankees, San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers are among the teams trying to trade for Archer, who the Rays appear more open to moving him now than in the past.

Rosenthal notes that the Rays will take the best offer available, even if it comes from the division-rival Yankees.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports the Rays' trade talks on Chris Archer are "intensifying'' as the deadline nears.

Crasnick notes that Tampa's asking price will almost certainly carry a No. 1 starter price tag given him being under contract through 2021.

His contract is considered an asset as well. The 29-year-old is owed just $7.5 million next year and $8.25 million in both 2020 and 2021.

While he has pitched at least 200 innings three years in a row, Archer's ERA sits at 4.36 entering play Saturday, the third year in a row it's been at least 4.00.

But some feel that Archer's lofty ERAs of late have more to do with the quality of lineups he faces in the American League East on a regular basis. Jason Collette of ESPN tweets that Archer's ERA against the AL East is 4.02 compared to 3.40 against the rest of baseball. He also gives up fewer home runs per nine innings and his chase rate is almost three per cent better against non-AL East clubs.

Crasnick wrote earlier in the week that the Rays also have their focus on moving shorter-term assets like outfielder Carlos Gomez, closer Sergio Romo, catcher Wilson Ramos and shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria, who are all free agents after the season.

Indians, Phillies linked to Gallo

The Cleveland Indians and Philadelphia Phillies are showing interest in Texas Rangers slugger Joey Gallo reports Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News.

No deal involving Gallo is imminent and he is under team control through the 2022 season.

Grant adds that the Rangers have also had trade discussions involving relievers Jake Diekman, Keone Kela and Alex Claudio

Marlins likely to move Barraclough?

Miami Marlins closer Kyle Barraclough still has three years of club control following this season but he might be on the move according to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com.

“A couple of days ago, I was skeptical Kyle Barraclough could be moved by Tuesday’s deadline. Now, I’m hearing teams may meet the overpay demands by Marlins. Changes the equation,” tweeted Frisaro.

In 47 games this season, Barraclough has an ERA of 2.40 and 10 saves. It’s the fourth year in a row that his ERA has sat at 3.00 or lower.

Dozier a fit in Boston? Gibson on the move?

With Eduardo Escobar traded to Arizona, the Minnesota Twins will now focus on trying to move impending free agent second baseman Brian Dozier.

ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick reports that once the Arizona Diamondbacks picked up Escobar and the Milwaukee Brewers traded for Mike Moustakas, two prime landing spots for Dozier came off the board.

Crasnick tweets that the Boston Red Sox have been mentioned as a possibility because of second baseman Dustin Pedroia’s health, but Boston’s focus remains the bullpen. “Dozier to Boston ‘high unlikely’,” Crasnick tweeted.

Both the Cleveland Indians and San Francisco Giants have emerged as possible destinations for Dozier, as Mike Bernardo of the Pioneer Press reports that both clubs have been scouting him this week.

It’s been a down year so far for the former All-Star, entering play Saturday with a .226 batting average to go along with 16 home runs and 51 RBI. But Dozier is notorious for second half tears, with 28 and 21 homers respectively in the second halves of 2016 and 2017.

Meanwhile, Rosenthal writes that the Twins are receiving "as much interest in Kyle Gibson as in any of their players."

The big right-hander has struggled the past few seasons but appears to have figured things out, sporting a 3.42 ERA in 129 innings. He is a free agent after the 2019 season.

Nationals checking in on Realmuto?

The Washington Nationals have checked in on catcher J.T. Realmuto according to Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports. The Nationals are believed to be willing to upgrade their original bid, but Heyman notes the Marlins aren’t anxious to trade him.

With the Nationals in limbo at 52-51, six games back of the division-leading Philadelphia Phillies and four games back of the second National League wild card spot, multiple reports indicate they haven’t decided if they plan to be buyers or sellers at the deadline.

The 27-year-old catcher has a batting average of .309 in 301 at-bats so far this season and an OPS of .894.

Realmuto has two years of team control left after 2018.
