Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was ejected from Wednesday’s game against the Boston Red Sox in the seventh inning for arguing a called third strike.
After the pitch from Red Sox starter Garrett Crochet, Guerrero Jr. turned to home plate umpire Gabe Morales and pointed to where he felt the ball missed the strike zone.
Morales immediately threw Guerrero Jr. out of the game before engaging in a further argument with Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
After Guerrero Jr. left the game, hitting coach David Popkins was also ejected for arguing with the home plate umpire.
The 26-year-old Blue Jays star was 0-for-3 before he was thrown out of the game.
Guerrero Jr. has appeared in 152 games this season and has posted a .295 average with 23 home runs and 83 RBIs.
The Blue Jays trailed the Red Sox 4-0 at the time of the ejection and went on to drop the game 7-1.
They are now tied with the New York Yankees for first in the American League East Division, though they hold the tiebreaker.
