The Montreal Canadiens have signed defenceman Christian Folin to a one-year contract extension, the team announced on Thursday.

Folin's deal is a one-way contract worth $800,000.

The 28-year-old from Sweden played 45 games last season split between the Canadiens and Philadelphia Flyers. He had six assists and averaged 15:40 of ice time per game.

Folin was acquired by the Canadiens from the Flyers on February 9 in a trade for forward Dale Weise.
