After losing in his first shot at the light-heavyweight title, Volkan Oezdemir returns to the Octagon against former UFC champion Mauricio Shogun Rua at Fight Night Chile on May 19th.

Oezdemir’s loss to Daniel Cormier at UFC 220 broke a five-fight winning streak that saw the 28-year-old earn victories over Paco Estevez, Alihan Vahaev, Ovince Saint Preux, Misha Cirkunov and Jimi Manuwa on his way to earning his shot at the gold.

Oezdemir has an overall 15-2 professional MMA record, including 3-1 since joining the UFC.

Rua is on a three-fight winning streak, with victories over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Corey Anderson and most recently over Gian Villante via third round TKO at Fight Night Fortaleza in March of 2017.

The 36-year-old defeated Lyoto Machida at UFC 113 in Montreal on May 8, 2010 to capture the light-heavyweight belt, which he then lost to Jon Jones in his first defence the following year.

Fight Night Chile will be held at the Movistar Arena in Santigao, Chile
