SAGINAW, Mich. — The Saginaw Spirit halted Guelph's momentum on Thursday, downing the Storm 7-2 in the opening game of the Ontario Hockey League's Western Conference final.

Cole Perfetti led the Spirit offence with two goals and two assists and Cole Coskey scored twice and tacked on a helper. Brady Gilmour, with a goal and two assists, Mason Millman and Blade Jenkins also scored for Saginaw.

Sean Durzi scored and assisted on Isaac Ratcliffe's goal for the Storm, who had rallied from a 3-0 series deficit in the Conference semifinal to beat the London Knights in seven games.

Spirit goaltender Ivan Prosvetov made 26 saves.

Anthony Popovich started in net for Guelph, allowing six goals on 25 shots through 40 minutes. Nico Sawes turned aside 4-of-5 attempts the rest of the way.

Saginaw hosts Game 2 of the best-of-seven series on Saturday.

The Spirit beat the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in six games in their second-round series.

67'S 6 GENERALS 4

OTTAWA — Marco Rossi scored two goals and set up two more as the 67's opened the Eastern Conference final with a victory over Oshawa.

Mitchell Hoelscher, Sasha Chmelevski, Noel Hoefenmayer and Kody Clark also scored for Ottawa, which hosts Game 2 of the best-of-seven series on Saturday.

Brandon Saigeon led the Generals with a pair of goals and Brett Neumann and Danil Antropov had the others.
