Edmonton Oilers defenceman Oscar Klefbom is in need of shoulder surgery, but his season isn't over yet.

Oilers head coach Todd McLellan said Klefbom will play Wednesday and could join the team for their upcoming four-game road trip before his surgery is scheduled.

McLellan said the 24-year-old wants to continue to play rather than sit out and wait to go under the knife. McLellan added Kelfbom will be ready for training camp in September.

Klefbom has four goals and 19 points in 63 games this season with a minus-10 rating. He scored 12 goals and posted 38 points in 82 games last season.
