The Edmonton Oilers announced Monday the team has sent defenceman Andrej Sekera to their AHL affiliate Bakersfield Condors on a conditioning assignment.

The 32-year-old Sekera has been out the entire season after tearing his Achilles tendon last summer.

Coming off the long-term injured reserve, Sekera can play three games on his conditioning assignment, and the team can ask for commissioner's permission to extend it a further two games. Once the conditioning assignment is complete, the Oilers will have to decide whether to active Sekera or not. Sekera has a no-move clause.
