EDMONTON - The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenceman Caleb Jones to a three-year entry level contract.

The 18-year-old appeared in 72 games with Western Hockey League's Portland Winterhawks this season, posting 55 points (10 goals, 45 assists), 64 penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating. He also recorded two assists and six penalty minutes in four playoff games.

The six-foot-one, 192-pound blue-liner also spent two seasons (2013-15) with the U.S. National Development Team in the United States Hockey League, registering 15 points (two goals, 13 assists) and 85 penalty minutes in 58 games.

The Arlington, Texas native represented his country internationally at the 2014 Under-17 World Junior Hockey Championship and the 2015 Under-18 World Junior Hockey Championship.

Jones was selected by the Oilers in the fourth round, 117th overall in the 2015 NHL draft.
