A key battle in the heavyweight division will take place at the United Center as Alistair Overeem will face hometown fighter Curtis Blaydes at the June 9 event.

Overeem had his two fight winning streak come to a crashing end at the hands of Francis Ngannou at UFC 218 in December of 2017.

Prior to losing that fight in a first round knockout, Overeem earned wins over Fabricio Werdum and Mark Hunt.  His professional MMA record is 43-16 and he’s had one shot at the UFC title turned away when he lost via first round KO to current champion Stipe Miocic.

Blaydes is on a three-fight winning streak, including his most recent triumph over Mark Hunt via unanimous decision at UFC 221.  He also holds wins over Oleksiy Oliynyk and Daniel Omielanczuk in his current run.

His only loss as a professional fighter was to Francis Ngannou in April of 2016, he also had a victory over Adam Milstead overturned into a no-contest.
