The Florida Panthers announced Sunday they have signed restricted free agent centre Jared McCann to a two-year contract and added free agent goalie Michael Hutchinson to a one-year contract.

The 22-year-old McCann finished with nine goals and 19 assists in 68 games for the Panthers last season, his second year with the club.

"Jared is a versatile two-way centerman who possesses excellent speed and suits our team well," Panthers GM Dale Tallon. "He has improved his game during his time with our organization and we look forward to him taking the next step in his development with the Panthers."

McCann, who was acquired by the Panthers from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for defenceman Erik Gudbranson, has 19 goals and 34 assists in 166 career games.

Hutchinson, meanwhile, spent most of last season with the Winnipeg Jets' AHL affiliate Manitoba Moose. The 28-year-old had a 17-5-1 record with a 2.08 goals against average and .935 save percentage in 26 games with the Moose. In three games with the Jets, Hutchinson was 2-1 with a 3.26 GAA and a .907 save percentage.

The Sun-Sentinel's Matthew De Franks reported Hutchinson signed a one-year, one-way, $1.3 million deal, giving the Panthers three goalies on NHL deals.
