Charlotte, NC - The Carolina Panthers signed wide receiver Jarrett Boykin to a one-year contract and claimed offensive tackle Jonathan Martin off waivers on Friday.

Boykin, who starred for Butler High School in Charlotte, spent the first three years of his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers. He caught 49 passes for 681 yards and three touchdowns in 2013, but dropped down the depth chart and had only three catches last season.

Martin was waived by the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday

He appeared in 15 games (nine starts) for the 49ers last season after being acquired in a trade with the Miami Dolphins in March.

Martin walked away from the Dolphins in October 2013 amid claims he was bullied by former teammate Richie Incognito. The former second-round draft pick had started the first 23 games of his NFL career before abruptly leaving the team.
