New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis is set to undergo an MRI Thursday after leaving Wednesday's game against the Sacramento Kings in the third quarter.

Davis grabbed a rebound and landed awkwardly on the foot of Kings' forward Kosta Koufos under the basket. He left the game immediately favouring his left ankle and did not return. X-rays were negative.

According to FOX Sports' Jennifer Hale, Davis was showing significant swelling after the game.

"I feel fine. But I’m going to have the team doctor take a look at it (Thursday) and go from there," Davis told reporters. "Any time you twist an ankle it hurts, especially coming off somebody's foot, because you really don't have any protection. It was sore. I just wanted to make sure everything was fine."

The 24-year-old has vaulted himself into the MVP conversation, averaging 28.3 points per game to go along with 11.2 rebounds for a Pelicans team that has won 10 in a row. Since DeMarcus Cousins went down with a torn Achillies tendon in late January, Davis is averaging 32.6 points a night.

The Pelicans (38-26) will be back in action Friday as they host the surging Washington Wizards (37-28).
