Jessica Penne has been pulled from her UFC Fight Night Phoenix bout against Jodie Esquibel due to an injury, the promotion announced on Sunday.
The card will proceed with 12 bouts.
Ariel Helwani of ESPN reports that Penne's injury is a sprained ankle, which she suffered while warming up on Sunday morning. According to Penne's manager Brian Butler, they tried icing and taping her injured ankle before realizing that the 36-year-old would not be able to compete on the card.
Penne issued a statement on Instagram saying that she rolled her ankle with her and her training partner's full body weight doing basic drills on Sunday morning.
Penne missed weight at Saturday's weigh-in, however her manager says the withdrawal was not related to any weight issues.
