According to TSN Baseball Insider Steve Phillips, a source indicates the Philadelphia Phillies believe their chances of landing Bryce Harper are "remote."

This comes after it was revealed the Los Angeles Dodgers met with Harper over the weekend. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the meeting went well.

"Just trying to get to know each other," Roberts said Monday. "In the spirit of us, as the Dodgers, vetting a certain process makes sense, and for those guys to do their due diligence as well."

According to Kerry Crowley of The Mercury News, Harper also met with San Francisco Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi and Giants CEO Larry Baer Tuesday in Las Vegas.

If Harper does elect to sign outside of Philadelphia, Phillips wonders if the club pivots to other free agent options like Dallas Keuchel and Craig Kimbrel

"My sense from our interview with [Phillies general manager] Matt Klentak is that they won't play on Keuchel and only maybe on Kimbrel," Phillips tweeted Wednesday.

Harper was reportedly offered a 10-year, $300 million deal by the Washington Nationals late in the season but elected to test the open market.

After a slow start to the year, Harper hit his stride and finished with 34 home runs and a career-high 100 RBI. Both totals were tops on the Nats.

The best season of his career came in 2015 when he led the league with 42 home runs and an OPS of 1.109 en route to winning the National League’s most valuable player award. He followed that up with a disappointing 2016 campaign but has been solid over the last two years to re-establish himself as one of the best hitters in baseball.

Through seven seasons, Harper has tallied 184 home runs, 521 RBI and six All-Star nods. His big league debut came in 2012 as a 19-year-old.
