HALIFAX — Jared McIsaac had two goals and an assist and Antoine Morand chipped in with three helpers as the Halifax Mooseheads defeated the Shawinigan Cataractes 7-1 on Thursday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Patrick Kyte, Justin Barron, Ben Higgins, Xavier Parent and Arnaud Durandeau also scored for the Mooseheads (29-8-3), who are 5-0-1 in their last six games.

Xavier Cormier was the lone scorer for the Cataractes (10-27-4), who are on a four-game slide.

Cole McLaren made 26 saves for Halifax. Justin Blanchette and Antoine Coulombe combined to stop 33-of-40 shots in a losing cause.

The Mooseheads went 2 for 2 on the power play while the Cataractes failed to score on three chances with the man advantage, including a five-minute power play after Halifax winger Joel Bishop was given a major and game misconduct for kneeing at 15:26 of the second period.



CHICOUTIMI, Que. — Remi Poirier turned away 35 shots and Gatineau scored twice in the third to slip past the Sagueneens.

Iaroslav Likhachev scored the winner for the Olympiques (16-20-4) at 14:01 of the third. Metis Roelens and Giordano Finoro had the others.

Tristan Pelletier and Vladislav Kotkov supplied the Chicoutimi (19-16-7) offence. Alexis Shank made 20 saves in a losing cause.



BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Ivan Chekhovich, Gabriel Fortier and Nathan Legare had a pair of goals apiece as the Drakkar toppled Val-d'Or.

Ethan Crossman and Samuel L'Italien also scored while Alex D'Orio made 16 saves for Baie-Comeau (29-9-3), which is on a 9-1-1 run.

Karl Boudrias found the back of the net for the Foreurs (14-21-5). Xavier Bolduc combined with Jonathan Lemieux to make 48 saves in defeat.
