The Texas Rangers acquired veteran outfielder Austin Jackson and reliever Cory Gearrin from the San Francisco Giants on Sunday in exchange for cash consideration or a player to be named later.

Minor-league pitcher Jason Bahr also heads to the Rangers in the deal.

Jackson, 31, was in his first season with the Giants. He was batting .242 with no home runs and 13 runs batted in and an OPS of .604 in 59 games this season.

A native of Denton, TX, Jackson is in his ninth big-league season, having also spent time with the Detroit Tigers, Seattle Mariners, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox and Cleveland.

Gearrin, 32, is in his seventh season and fourth with the Giants. In 35 appearances this season, Gearrin is 1-1 with an earned-run average of 4.20 and a 1.533 WHIP over 30.0 innings pitched.

The Chattanooga, TN spent the first three seasons of his career with the Atlanta Braves.

Bahr, 23, was with the Giants' Single-A affiliate Augusta GreenJackets of the South Atlantic League.
