New York Rangers rookie forward Anthony Duclair will join Team Canada at the World Junior Championships later this month.

The Rangers loaned the 19-year-old for the tournament, which runs from Dec. 26 through Jan. 5 in Toronto and Duclair's hometown of Montreal.

"On behalf of Hockey Canada and all Team Canada fans, I would like to thank the New York Rangers for their support of Canada's National Junior Team," said Scott Salmond, vice-president of hockey operations/national teams for Hockey Canada. "We expect that the team will benefit greatly from the addition of Anthony for both his skill and leadership, and we believe this will be a great experience for Anthony, as he embarks on what we expect will be long and successful professional and international playing career."

Duclair skated in 18 games with the Rangers this season, registering one goal and six assists. He is tied for eighth among NHL rookies in assists and is tied for ninth among NHL rookies in plus/minus rating this season.

The Pointe-Claire, Quebec native has represented Canada in several international tournaments. Most recently, Duclair helped Team Canada capture a gold medal at the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.

Duclair was the Rangers' 80th overall pick (third round) in the 2013 draft.
