The Texas Rangers will announce their plans for injured ace Yu Darvish on Wednesday, according to MLB.com.

Darvish has a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow and could require Tommy John surgery.

Darvish flew to New York on Monday for a second opinion and will be evaluated Tuesday at which time the Rangers and Darvish will decide on their next move.

"He's flying today, he's going to meet with them tomorrow and that will give us a chance to regroup once we get the information," said Rangers assistant general manager Thad Levine.

After missing the last six weeks of last season, Darvish left his first spring start on Thursday after just one inning.

"Right now, there's nothing official until we complete all the steps that we need to complete with the second opinions and everything else," said Rangers manager Jeff Banister.
