Reds' Votto receives one game suspension
Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto has been given a one-game suspension for making contact with an umpire, the league announced on Friday. The Etobicoke, Ontario native bumped home-plate umpire Chris Conroy following his ejection from the Reds' 3-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday.

In 28 games this season, the four-time All-Star and 2010 National League MVP has hit .311 with seven home runs and 18 RBI and a .986 OPS.
Votto, 31, will not appeal his suspension and serve it on Friday night when the Reds, 14-14 and third in the NL Central, open a three-game set with the Chicago White Sox at US Cellular Field.
He can return to the lineup on Saturday.
