The Oakland Athletics have signed catcher Jonathan Lucroy according to Jane Lee of MLB.com.

Lucroy spent last season with the Texas Rangers and Colorado Rockies, hitting .265 with six home runs and 40 RBI in 123 games.

After a slow start to the season, he was dealt to Colorado in August for a player to be named later. Lucroy's numbers last season were a far cry from 2016 when he was named to the All-Star team and had an OPS of .855.

The Athletics didn't get much production from behind the plate last season as Bruce Maxwell, Stephen Vogt and Josh Phegley combined for 10 home runs and 52 RBI.

Oakland went 75-87 last season to finish last in the AL West.
