Aqib Talib's days as a member of the Denver Broncos are likely coming to an end.

Mike Klis of NBC's Denver affiliate reports that the team is "actively shopping" the five-time Pro Bowl cornerback and want to get something done prior to the start of the league's new year on March 14.

Talib, 32, has two years remaining on his current deal. The native of Cleveland is owed a non-guaranteed $11 million this season and $8 million in 2019.

Klis notes that although Talib doesn't have any kind of a no-trade provision, his reluctance to move to San Francisco has scuppered a potential move to the 49ers. Broncos general manager John Elway had made progress on a deal that would see Talib head to the NFC West, but it collapsed when it became clear that Talib wasn't interested.

The player's preference would be a return to the New England Patriots with whom he spent nearly two seasons with in 2012 and 2013.

The Broncos have engaged in talks with the Pats, but are still talking with other clubs, as well. While they would like to move Talib by Wednesday, his guaranteed money doesn't kick in until 53-man rosters are set on Sept. 1, meaning that there isn't a strong impetus at this time.

Klis reports that interest in the player is strong enough that it doesn't appear likely that the Broncos will release him.

Originally taken with the 20th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft out of Kansas by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Talib will be heading into his 11th season.

He appeared in 15 games for the Broncos last year, recording 31 combined tackles and one pick-six.
