New San Antonio Spurs guard DeMar DeRozan will apparently no longer be participating in a couple of upcoming NBA events that Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri is also affiliated with.

DeRozan has withdrawn from participating in Basketball Without Borders and the NBA Africa game taking place in Pretoria, South Africa on Aug. 4, reports ESPN's Chris Haynes. The 10-year veteran will use the time instead to prepare for his transition to San Antonio following the blockbuster trade that sent him to the Alamo City and Kawhi Leonard to Toronto, per Haynes.

As the ESPN reporter points out, Ujiri is an ambassador of Basketball Without Borders. The Nigerian-born Ujiri's annual not-for-profit youth camp, Giants of Africa, which takes place on the continent, kicks off on Aug. 6.
