Despite acquiring Marcell Ozuna from the Miami Marlins Wednesday, the St. Louis Cardinals continue to push for Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson, according to a report from Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Rosenthal added the Blue Jays remain disinclined to move Donaldson and plan to compete in 2018. Rosenthal reported the asking price for the 2015 AL MVP is high and there is no indication a deal is close.

FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman added there are five teams interested in Donaldson, with three teams being persistent. Heyman reports the Jays have no intent to trade Donaldson.

Donaldson can become a free agent after next season. The 32-year-old batted .270 with 33 home runs and 78 RBIs despite missing 49 games with a calf injury.
