On-loan Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain is a doubt for Wednesday's Supercoppa match with his parent club Juventus in Saudi Arabia due to a "fever."
This comes amid growing speculation that the 31-year-old Argentina international could be set for a move to Chelsea during the January transfer window.
The Suppercoppa is an annual meeting between the previous season's Serie A champions and the Coppa Italia winner, normally held in August ahead of the new league season. In recent years, it's become commonplace for the match to be held outside of Italy.
On Tuesaday, Milan manager Reno Gattuso denied that anything was imminent with the striker.
"I hear a lot of rumours on Higuain, but he is training well, he is happy with his team-mates, he is happy with everyone," Gattuso said. "In this moment he is available and then we will see whether he will play the match."
Higuain signed for the Rossoneri on loan in August for a reported fee of €18 million. Milan has an option to buy the player at season's end.
In 21 appearances across all competitions, Higuain has eight goals. Higuain set the all-time Serie A record for goals in a season with 36 during the 2015-16 campaign with Napoli.
Capped 75 times by Argentina, Higuain has also spent time with River Plate and Real Madrid
