The New York Jets are expected to pursue running back Le'Veon Bell in free agency, but Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports they won't be writing a blank cheque to land him.

According to Mehta, the Jets "will not break the bank" for Bell, adding that there are concerns regarding Bell's motivation level if he lands a multi-year contract.

Bell sat out the entire 2018 season, refusing to sign the $14.5 million franchise tender placed on him by the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers could still opt to place the franchise tag on Bell for a third year, but since that is expected to cost $25 million, it's believed he'll hit free agency in March.

Mehta sees the Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Raiders and possibly the Miami Dolphins as potential fits for Bell. He notes that the running back reportedly turned down a five-year, $70 million - $33 million guaranteed - contract last summer and will be looking to top that offer in March.

Bell rushed for 1,291 yards with nine touchdowns over 15 games in 2017, adding 85 receptions for 655 yards and two touchdowns.

The Steelers selected the Michigan State product in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft and he is a three-time Pro Bowler with the team.
