The Los Angeles Lakers have been granted permission to talk to Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Monty Williams about their vacant head coaching position, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 76ers are in the midst of Eastern Conference quarter-final series with the Brooklyn Nets.

The Lakers will likely do a phone interview or fly to Philadelphia to meet with Williams.

Williams previously served as head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans from 2010-2015.
