The NFL Players Association filed a grievance on behalf of Cleveland Browns receiver Josh Gordon, but not for his most recent suspension that will cause him to miss the entire 2015 NFL season.

According to a report from ESPN, the NFLPA filed a non-injury grievance against the Browns for the one-game suspension imposed on Gordon last year.

The Browns suspended Gordon for the last game of 2014 after the beleaguered receiver missed a special teams meeting. The PA plans to argue missing a special teams meeting is not grounds for suspension, according to the report.

The suspension was significant because it prevented Gordon from accruing a full season, delaying him from reaching free agency for another year. NFL players must be active for six games to accrue a full season but Gordon was active for only five last year after missing 10 games due to a drug suspension and one for missing the special teams meeting.

The grievance will be handled by an independent arbitrator.
