The New York Rangers have reportedly signed defenceman Henrik Tallinder to a professional tryout.

According to Newsday, the club is looking for another option after releasing Tomas Kaberle from his PTO with the Hartford Wolfpack and is prepared to give the Swedish veteran a look in the AHL instead.

Tallinder, 35, is a veteran of 678 career NHL games with the Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils. He has scored 28 career goals and 114 assists.

He attended Toronto Maple Leafs training camp on a professional tryout this fall, but was unable to make the final roster.

Newsday added that he is expected to join the Wolfpack this week for practice.
