After not selecting any players in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Toronto Raptors have agreed to a training camp deal with former University of Arizona guard Rawle Alkins, according to a report from Sports Illustrated's Jeremy Woo.
Alkins (6’5, 220) started 57 of the 60 games he appeared in with the Wildcats. As a sophomore last season, he averaged 13.1 points per game.
The Wildcats, who also produced this year’s No. 1 pick, Deandre Ayton, were surprisingly bounced out of this year’s NCAA Tournament in the first round after losing to the University of Buffalo.
The first step for the 20-year-old, who as an undrafted player undoubtedly faces a steep hill trying to crack the Raptors 2018-19 final roster, will be to play alongside the team's other young players during the 2018 Las Vegas Summer League. Ahead of the draft, Blake Murphy of Raptors Republic reported that the Raptors were expected to have forward OG Anunoby, guard Malachi Richardson, forward Alfonzo McKinnie, restricted free agent forward Malcolm Miller, and Raptors 905 centre Shevon Thompson play on their Summer League squad.
The Las Vegas Summer League kicks off on July 6 and runs through July 17.
