With Kyrie Irving already ruled out for the remainder of the season and playoff, the Boston Celtics are expecting guard Marcus Smart to be cleared to return to action at the six-week mark, post-surgery according to a report by Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.  Smart had thumb surgery on March 16.

This timeline would put Smart’s return from the surgery he had to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his thumb at April 27th.

At the time of the surgery, the Celtics set his injury return range at six-to-eight weeks.

The 24-year-old has appeared in 54 games this season for the Celtics and averaged 10.2 points and 4.8 assists per game.

Smart is in his fourth NBA season, all spent with the Celtics after they selected him sixth overall at the 2014 NBA Draft.
