The Detroit Tigers appear to be on the verge of locking up Victor Martinez, who has re-signed with the Tigers at $68 million over four years, according to CBS' Jon Heyman.

The 35-year-old first baseman/designated hitter posted a .335 batting average in 2014 with 32 home runs and 103 runs batted-in.

Martinez has spent the past three seasons with the Tigers, breaking the .300 plateau in each season and twice eclipsing 100 RBI.

A 12-year MLB veteran, Martinez has played 1459 career games with the Tigers, Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox.

He has been selected to five All-Star Games, hitting 189 home runs and driving in 927. He boasts a career average of .306.

Breaking into the majors primarily as a catcher, Martinez has spent the bulk of his time in Detroit as a DH. The Tigers have utilized Martinez in the role for at least 110 games in each of the past three seasons.
