The New York Yankees have placed recently acquired starting pitcher J.A. Happ on the 10-day disabled list after the former Toronto Blue Jay was diagnosed with hand, foot and mouth disease on Tuesday.

News of the transaction was first reported by George A. King of the New York Post.

Happ, who was acquired last week from the Blue Jays for infielder Brandon Drury and minor league outfielder Bill McKinney, was sharp in his first start in pinstripes, allowing one run on three hits over six innings of work in a solid win over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.

The 35-year-old lefty is 11-6 with a 4.05 ERA and 132 strikeouts over 120 innings pitched in 2018, his 12th year in the Majors. Happ appeared in his first All-Star Game this season.

New York Mets ace Noah Syndergaard also recently came down with hand, foot and mouth disease recently.
