New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Colorado Rockies pitcher Nick Masset was suspended three games and received an undisclosed fine for intentionally throwing a pitch at Atlanta's Evan Gattis in a June 12 game.
Masset, after a warning had already been issued, threw at Gattis in the ninth inning of Colorado's 10-3 victory over the Braves.
Atlanta's David Carpenter had hit Colorado's Corey Dickerson with a pitch in the eighth inning. Just prior to the plunking, Dickerson's bat had hit Atlanta catcher Gerald Laird in the head on a follow-through swing. Laird had to be helped off the field.
Carpenter was fined an undisclosed amount for his action.
