The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added former NFLer Matt Elam to their practice roster.

Elam was drafted in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens, and played three seasons in the team's secondary, starting for the majority of the first two.

The 26-year-old defensive back played in 41 games in the NFL with 26 starts, all with the Ravens, recording 88 tackles and one interception.

Elam struggled through injury and legal troubles during his time in the NFL.

The Roughriders also announced they have released international quarterback Jeremy Johnson.
