The Ottawa Senators received unwelcome news on Tuesday, learning that forward Clarke MacArthur and defenceman Marc Methot have suffered concussions.

General manager Bryan Murray confirmed the news following the morning skate.

MacArthur suffered a head injury when he fell to the ice in the Senators' 7-3 road victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old has a concussion history which includes a severe concussion last season suffered from a collision with then-teammate, Robin Lehner. He missed 18 games due to the injury.

MacArthur also suffered a head injury in the final exhibition game of this year's preseason.

"We are going to take our time with him," Murray said of MacArthur.

Murray also confirmed on Tuesday that Methot has a concussion. Methot was kept out of Saturday's game with what was called the flu at the time but further tests determined a concussion.

Methot skated on Tuesday and Murray says the defencemen is expected to skate with the team Wednesday and hopefully play Saturday.
