David Price's tenure with the Toronto Blue Jays might not be over just yet.

A source tells TSN that the Chicago Cubs don't believe that they can afford Price and are turning their focus to the next level of free agent starters.

At the same time, Tom Verducci of Sports Illustrated told the MLB Network on Monday that the Boston Red Sox are keenly interested in signing Price. "I believe David Price is going to Boston. (Red Sox GM) Dave Dombrowski is all in," said Verducci.

Acquired by the Blue Jays from the Detroit Tigers in August, the lefty was instrumental in the Jays' American League East title and return to the postseason for the first time since 1993. With the Tigers and Jays, Price was 18-5 with a league-leading 2.45 ERA and a WHIP 1.076. He finished second in the AL Cy Young voting behind Dallas Keuchel of the Houston Astros and was ninth in MVP voting. Teammate Josh Donaldson claimed the award.

The Blue Jays have already retained one free agent starter when they came to terms with Marco Estrada on a two-year, $24 million deal last week.
