Schwartz keeps St. Louis’ playoff hopes alive; Guentzel, Stepan, Gibson and more in Scott Cullen’s Statistically Speaking.

Jaden Schwartz – The Blues winger scored two goals, and had team-best possession (18 for, 7 against, 72.0 CF%, 6-2 scoring chances) in a 2-1 overtime win against Boston. He has 11 points (4 G, 7 A) in the past 10 games, and has 53 points in 53 games this season; he’s been excellent, if overlooked somewhat because he missed time with injury and the Blues are still battling for a spot in the postseason. They’re currently two points behind Los Angeles, with one game in hand.

Jake Guentzel – Pittsburgh’s sophomore winger produced a goal and two assists in a 5-3 win over Montreal, and has 14 points (3 G, 11 A) in the past 14 games.

Derek Stepan – Arizona’s veteran leader provided a goal and an assist in a 4-1 win at Buffalo; he has 19 points (4 G, 15 A) in the past 21 games.

John Gibson – Anaheim’s Vezina Trophy candidate posted a 29-save shutout in a 4-0 win at Calgary, and has a .943 save percentage in his past 12 games.

Cam Fowler and Brandon Montour – The Ducks defence duo was stuck in their own end (5 for, 22 against, 18.5 CF%, 1-9 scoring chances) in a 4-0 win against Calgary.

Mike Smith – The Flames continued their late-season slide, and the Flames goaltender allowed three goals on 11 shots, getting pulled after two periods from a 4-0 loss to Anaheim. He has a .861 save percentage in six starts, winning once, since returning from injury.

Carey Price – Montreal’s star netminder returned to the Canadiens lineup, allowing five goals on 39 shots in a 5-3 loss at Pittsburgh. He has a career-low .903 save percentage this season.
