Team Sweden will not have netminder Jonas Johansson for the World Junior Hockey Tournament.
Sweden announced on Monday their likely starter would miss the tournament due to an undisclosed injury.
Johansson was drafted in the third round (61st overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft by the Buffalo Sabres.
Johansson’s injury leaves Sweden with Samuel Ward and Linus Soderstrom as options in net. His roster spot was filled by fellow goaltender Frederick Bergvik.
Ward allowed five goals to Canada on 33 shots on Sunday night. Soderstrom was drafted in the fourth round (95th overall) of 2014 Draft by the New York Islanders.
Sweden opens their tournament against the Czech Republic on Friday.
