Last year’s first overall draft pick Jadeveon Clowney will open training camp on the physically unable to perform list.

The Houston Texans made the move Monday, ahead of the open of their training camp.

The move allows the Texans to keep Clowney on the PUP list into the regular season (he would miss the first six games) should they need to, but they can also take Clowney off the list at any time during training camp if he’s ready.

Clowney only played in four games his rookie season after undergoing two knee surgeries last year.
