TORONTO — Veteran Brad Thiessen only had to make 17 saves as the Cleveland Monsters beat the Toronto Marlies 5-1 on Sunday to grab the final playoff spot in the American Hockey League's Eastern Conference.

Zac Dalpe, Mark Letestu, Doyle Somerby, Justin Scott and Derek Barach supplied the offence for the Monsters (37-29-10), who beat out the Belleville Senators for the fourth seed in the North Division.

Hudson Elynuik found the back of the net for the Marlies (39-24-13), who already had the No. 3 spot in the North Division locked up.

Eamon McAdam stopped 36-of-41 shots in a losing cause.

Toronto will face the Rochester Americans in a best-of-five first-round series, while Cleveland gets the Syracuse Crunch.
