TSN Basketball Analyst Jack Armstrong returns with his five quick thoughts on a potential rebuild in Memphis, the job Nick Nurse has done coaching the Raptors and more.

1. MIKE CONLEY & MARC GASOL (Grizzlies): Looks like Memphis GM Chris Wallace is going to explore the trade market to see if the Grizzlies can reboot their situation. Both guys are excellent veteran  players, but they have hefty contracts. In my opinion, it’s definitely time to change the core in Memphis. It will be interesting to see if they can move  either player and, more importantly, get positive returns.

2. NICK NURSE(Raptors): Considering the fact that the Raptors have had 14 different starting lineups and Nurse has literally had to mix and match game plans and substitution patterns on a nightly basis, he’s done a terrific job getting this team in the position that they’re currently in. I like his style. Nurse focuses on who is available rather than whining and making excuses for who isn’t. He’s very adaptable and talented.

3. HARRY GILES (Kings): Marvin Bagley Jr. gets lots of the attention, but this fellow Duke product has great athleticism, size and potential as a scorer, rebounder and shot blocker in a fast-paced system. Injuries have held him back a bit in the past but he was a solid gamble by their franchise if he can stay healthy.

4. COURTNEY LEE (Knicks): Just hanging out in New York with Enes Kanter, biding their time as the team quietly tries to “develop” their young guys. Obviously, Zion Williamson or RJ Barrett (Duke) would look good in a Knicks uniform, so a good pro and sound shooter sits around. He’s battled a neck injury. If he proves he’s healthy he could be a buyout. If so, folks will be lining up.

5. BLAKE GRIFFIN (Pistons): He’s having an excellent year, averaging 26 points and 8.1 rebounds along with 5.2 assists on 48.1 per cent shooting. He’s really gotten after it and done everything you can ask of him. The challenge is the roster inconsistency and injuries the Pistons have dealt with. Their margin of error is rather slim, but Griffin has been impressive. He just needs more firepower and support around him. He’s a good part to the solution there.
