West Ham United have completed the signing of Ukraine winger Andriy Yarmolenko from Borussia Dortmund.

The 28-year-old appeared 26 times over all competitions for BVB last season, scoring six times.

"The team wants to achieve high things and I am excited for this challenge," Yarmolenko said. "The Premier League is the best in the world and I know an interesting project is being built at West Ham."

Yarmolenko spent parts of 11 seasons with Dynamo Kiev before joining Dortmund last summer.

"When we had the opportunity to sign him, we did not hesitate, because he really is the kind of player we were looking for," said Mario Husillos, the club's director of football. "I think Manuel Pellegrini is the perfect coach for Andriy and his style of play."

Yarmolenko has scored 35 times in 77 appearances for the national team.

He becomes the fifth signing of the offseason for the Hammers, following midfielder Jack Wilshere on a free from Arsenal, Poland goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski from Swansea, defender Ryan Fredericks from Fulham and Toulouse defender Issa Diop for a club-record £22 million fee.

Lazio attacking midfielder Felipe Anderson is expected to join the club in the coming days in what should be another club-record transfer.

The Hammers' Premier League season gets underway on August 12 as they visit Liverpool at Anfield.
