CRANBROOK, B.C. — The Western Hockey League's Kootenay Ice pulled out the win in their final game at Western Financial Place.

Michael Milne scored the winner at 14:16 of the third period as Kootenay edged the Red Deer Rebels 5-4 on Sunday — the last day of the WHL regular season.

Earlier in the year it was announced that the Ice will be moving from Cranbrook, B.C., to Winnipeg for the 2019-20 season.

Jaeger White, Nolan Orzeck, Holden Kodak and Connor McClennon also scored for Kootenay (13-45-10), which got 25 saves from Curtis Meger.

Cameron Hausinger struck twice and Brett Davis and Jordan Borysiuk also found the back of the net for the Rebels (33-29-6). Byron Fancy turned away 26 shots in defeat.

Kootenay forward Peyton Krebs was ejected for checking from behind at 11:57 of the first period.

THUNDERBIRDS 6 WINTERHAWKS 5

PORTLAND, Ore. — Jarret Tyszka scored the winner at 8:00 of the third as Seattle held on to beat the Winterhawks.

Jared Davidson, Kai Uchacz, Simon Kubicek, Brecon Wood and Sean Richards also scored for the Thunderbirds (31-29-8), who got 40 saves from Cole Schwebius.

Reece Newkirk, Jake Gricius, Clay Hanus, Seth Jarvis and Jared Freadrich had the Portland (40-22-6) goals, while Joel Hofer made 27 saves in defeat.

Winterhawks forward Joachim Blichfeld picked up an assist to give him 114 points and the WHL scoring title, edging Moose Jaws Warriors forward Tristan Langan by one point.

OIL KINGS 3 HITMEN 1

CALGARY — Vince Loschiavo scored twice as Edmonton downed the Hitmen.

Jake Neighbours also scored while Todd Scott made 25 saves for the Oil Kings (42-18-8).

Riley Fiddler-Schultz replied for Calgary (36-26-6). Carl Stankowski stopped 33-of-35 shots in defeat.
