Hester sets NFL return record in Falcons' blowout of Bucs

Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and high-stepping Devin Hester led the Atlanta Falcons to one of the biggest wins in franchise history. Ryan threw for 286 yards and three touchdowns, Jones hauled in nine passes for 161 yards and a couple of scores, and Hester set an NFL record with his 20th return for a TD as the Falcons routed the hapless Tampa Bay Buccaneers 56-14 on Thursday night. Hometown Hero

Derek Jeter began his final homestand for the New York Yankees with one more stroll around the bases, hitting a home run Thursday night in a 3-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Jeter homered deep into the left-field seats against R.A. Dickey in the sixth inning, earning a standing ovation from his adoring fans. Full Story.

"Not An Issue"

Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Dave Nonis kicked off Day 1 of training camp on the defensive on Thursday, denying reports of a possible rift between star winger Phil Kessel and new assistant coach Steve Spott. "It's not an issue in our dressing room," Nonis told reporters about the story in The Toronto Star. "I know Phil and Spotter are grinning about it." Full Story.
