What if you could build the perfect hockey player, handpicking the very best abilities from the country’s brightest stars and fusing them into one unstoppable force? It sounds like something pulled straight from a video game. The kind of scenario you could debate for hours but never actually get to see play out in real life. But with the 2026 Olympics here, we decided to have a little fun with that fantasy. We asked a group of NHL players to create the ultimate Team Canada player by choosing the top traits in the game. The result? A superstar blueprint made from the best of the best and proof that Canadian talent gives you a whole lot of cheat codes to work with. We ran the guys through every category you would want in a dream build: style, toughness, hands, heart, clutch, speed and shot, all in the name of crafting the ultimate Team Canada player.
